Internet safety drop in session for parents Wednesday 11th January 9.00am – 11.30am

Over Christmas, children may have received electronic equipment and games as presents. As ever, we will start our new term with e safety lessons with the children, focusing on how to keep safe if they are using chatrooms, Face Book, Instagram or other social networks.

We know that some parents would like advice and support so we have organised an Internet safety ‘drop in session’ so that parents or carers can come in and ask questions regarding technical advice eg. Security and privacy settings, accessing Internet history etc. We will also be able to show you how we teach children Internet safety at school and also share with you useful websites which will give you further Internet safety information.

Mrs Hughes, our new computing leader in school, and Mrs Gough will be taking this session. Please pop in to the school office any time between 9.00 am and 11.30 am where we will be happy to help. If you are unable to attend this session but have a question regarding Internet safety, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Hughes who will be happy to make alternative arrangements.

We have been given an opportunity to take Everest & Himalayas to The Blue School for a Sports Festival on Wednesday 17th January 2018. The Festival starts at 1.35 pm and finishes at 3 pm. We will be leaving St Cuthbert’s at 1.15 pm and will be back at St Cuthbert’s before 3.20 pm. Please make sure your child brings their PE kit and a drink. We also need parents to walk to and from The Blue School please speak to your child's class teacher if you are able to help.

To continue the success of the WCLP Sports Festivals this year will see some of The Blue School Yr13 activity leaders filmed during their activity/leadership session. This will carried out in order to evaluate the quality of the students’ sessions and leadership to ensure that every student visiting The Blue School and its sports festivals is given the most memorable experience. It will also have added benefits for the sixth form students themselves as they will be able to use the footage as evidence for a vital assignment that must be completed as part of their Level 3 BTEC Sport Diploma

The footage will be stored on The Blue School system accessed only by Head of Sport, and their internal verifier and possible an external verifier should any students be called by the exam board.

If you do not  wish your child to be filmed please speak to your child’s class teacher.

Yours sincerely

Helen Mullinger
